Bill Groomsman (Friend of the Groom) Bill and I have been friends since our freshman year at Otterbein College. After pledging the same fraternity, Bill and I did some really crazy things. For instance, I remember one time we used his car, an El Comino, as the float in a parade. We started decorating it by putting brown paper all over his car, you know, the kind brown paper that paper bags are made out of. Next, we painted pictures of people’s butts on the paper. Why you ask? Why not we ask? Since the theme of the parade was putting on the Ritz, we made an 8-foot tall Ritz cracker and put it in the back of his car. Now, it is important to note that the only problem we had w/designing the float was that we didn’t finish the paper mache cracker until 4 in the morning! The morning of the parade everything was going great until we came upon the first hill. Maybe it was the 6 guys in the car or maybe it was the car was fifteen years old but for some reason, the car stalled and died. Never fear though, we were able to push the car through the remaining mile and a half of the parade. However, I should probably tell you that when the car stalled all five guys in the back, me being one of them, when completely through the 8-foot cracker! We were totally covered in paint as we turned to see the wet cracker fall out of the car, roll down the hill, go through the band and a finally stop to rest after it hit several other floats. Oh well, at least we were still left with a beat-up car that didn't run that was covered with butt pictures! So Bill, thanks for all of the great memories, be safe, and I will see you in October! | |||||||
